Slide PowerPoint Training CD
(Revised
June 28, 2006)
Dent, a retired Oregon
State Police Senior Trooper, designed this course for instructors to teach
basic, targeted, entry level Survival Spanish® to a wide
variety of law enforcement, corrections, security, EMT’s, parole / probation,
firefighters, educators, military, juvenile and youth authorities and other
public safety professionals.
This PowerPoint encompasses the numerous situations, both common and life threatening, that
public safety professionals encounter with Spanish speaking persons.
This training helps avoid tragic misunderstandings, elicits voluntary
cooperation and enhances the image of the public safety professionals.
Using learning
cognates, mnemonics and “Dynamic Memory Linking©”
this "easy to teach” patented method
is a practical way for learning, retaining and recalling commonly used
Spanish words and phrases. The Survival
Spanish®
training method, addresses the relationship between sensory perception, the
brain, “memory keys” and the rate of practice.
Once learned, as a prompt, the “key” for memory recall,
evokes an appropriate learned response. Conceptual
protocols for learning, remembering, and recalling practical and abstract
concepts by means of cognitive association are retained by realistic practice
and reinforced by immediate positive feedback, which this interactive training
program provides.
Our materials circumvent
the often confusing grammar instruction found in most college
courses. It is easy, efficient, job specific and cost effective. (Typically,
this course can be used as a 2-3 day stand-alone training program or can be
used in conjunction with more in depth language courses.)

Testimonial
“As
native speaker and language instructor, my first impression of the "Survival
Spanish® for Law Enforcement Instructors and Trainers," was one of
extreme high quality. I must
say that it is the finest and easiest Spanish language teaching tool for Law
Enforcement instructors I have ever come across… including all the
Spanish materials I have reviewed at the Tennessee Foreign Language Institute. By
using your realistic field manual and accompanying audio CDs, video DVD and
PowerPoint presentation CD, this training program can easily be incorporated or expanded into a longer
training course.
My
most sincere congratulations on your successful effort, it shows your
knowledge and perception of the language barrier as well as the dynamics that
involve the teaching of Law Enforcement and other public safety personnel.
All in all… a phenomenal piece of work.”
